Planning and fundraising are underway for the new Bike Park at Westside Park. Catalyzed by a generous lead gift from the Chestnut Family Foundation, this project will be one of Atlanta’s most distinctive and inclusive biking facilities, bringing a fresh recreational opportunity to communities across the metro area that users of all ages, abilities, and skill levels can enjoy.
The Bike Park plays a vital role in advancing the Atlanta Beltline’s vision as a global model for equity and inclusion. As the most recent park investment in the heart of historically underserved communities on Atlanta’s westside, the continued expansion of Westside Park into Atlanta’s largest greenspace will promote physical activity, enhance mental well-being, and foster social connections that help reduce health inequities while supporting economic growth in surrounding neighborhoods.
Furthermore, this unique Bike Park will become one of Atlanta’s most inclusive destinations. It will expand access to biking by creating a safe space to learn and practice, and it will bring together people from all walks of life who enjoy a variety of activities ranging from cycling, mountain biking, and freestyle BMX to scooters, skateboarding, rollerblading, and more.
We are excited to share the enthusiasm of community leaders and biking advocates in their own words below. Want to help advance this vision for Atlanta? Let’s connect!

“Super excited about the addition of a new bike park in Atlanta. I’m dedicated to uplifting our youth by providing resources that promote healthy lifestyles, including mental and physical fitness. The inclusion of adaptive bikes and lessons for the kids will fuel the already expansive and thriving cycling community for years to come.”
Eric Gray, Founder – Executive Director, Catalyst Sports

“Green spaces are vital for everyone’s well-being and mental health, but they hold an even deeper importance for those with disabilities. In a world where statistics show that individuals with disabilities often face greater challenges and disadvantages compared to their peers, having access to nature becomes more than just a luxury—it’s a lifeline. These spaces offer a sense of freedom, peace, and connection that can be transformative, especially for those who need it most.
“The creation of mountain bike trails designed to include those using adaptive equipment is beyond exciting—it’s truly a game-changer. This won’t just be the first purpose-built trail for inclusion in the city, but one of the few in the entire state. Finally, kids and adults with physical disabilities will no longer be left behind when it comes to experiencing the thrill of these trails. It’s a powerful step toward ensuring everyone can ride, feel the rush of freedom, and connect with nature in a way that was once out of reach.”

TJ Austin, Board Chair, Grove Park Foundation
“The plans for Westside Park were developed with the intention of creating a space uniquely different than anything else in Atlanta as well as becoming a regional attraction that brings attention to the beauty of the park.
“It is important that this facility will include trails and pump track for beginning and intermediate skill levels. It will be a new experience for young people living nearby. The Bike Park can be a gateway to discover new and different experiences, sports, and careers.”

Brett Davidson, Executive Director, MTB Atlanta
“Atlanta needs a state-of-the-art space where the entire family can enjoy together and connect with nature. The park will allow users to gain skills and experiences that will last a lifetime for play and for work.”
“A bike can be a tool of equity. It can be used to get to work, to move along the Beltline, and to travel around the city. Atlanta needs an inclusive and open place for people to learn to ride. The Bike Park will provide a safe and open place for people young and old to learn to ride bikes, from striders to mountain bikes to BMXs.

“The community wants Westside Park to be exceptional. The surrounding neighborhoods have been underserved for a very long time. The Bike Park will give kids world-class amenities and options to abandon cell phones and video games, get outside, and find constructive recreation.
“A safe space that fosters mental health and well-being should be free. Our city is working to be sure there is equal access to green space within a half-mile of all the neighborhoods. It’s not just good for people, it’s good for the economy.”
